About marrakech-sahara.com
marrakech-sahara.com is an independent guide to the multi-day desert tours from Marrakech to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. This page explains who runs it, how it is financed and where the data comes from.
Who is behind this site
marrakech-sahara.com is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher based in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He builds and maintains a small portfolio of guides to tours and attraction tickets. There is no agency and no editorial team behind this site: one person researches and updates the pages and answers the e-mails.
What this site does
Most desert tours from Marrakech drive the same road over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to the same dunes. The listings differ in the details that decide the trip: which camp class you sleep in, whether the tent is heated in winter, whether lunch is included, where the first night is and whether the tour ends back in Marrakech or in Fes. We put those details side by side so you can pick the option that fits your trip. We are not a booking agent; every reservation happens on the booking platform.
How we earn money
When you book through one of our links, the platform pays us a commission. Your price stays the same: the commission comes out of the platform’s margin. No contract obliges us to favour an operator, and our tables are ordered by number of reviews, not by what pays us best.
Where our data comes from
Prices, ratings and review counts come from our booking partners’ APIs and refresh automatically several times a day. Camp classes, inclusions, first-night towns and end points are taken from the operators’ product pages and the option lists of the booking platform. Found something out of date? Write to us and we will correct it.
What we are not
We do not run any tours and we are not affiliated with any operator mentioned on this site. Weather, road closures and full camps are outside everyone’s control, including ours. For binding information on pickup times, camp changes and cancellations, the operator’s own channels always take precedence.
